Minnesota Connections

  • CryptoCloaks — 3D printed products and supplies for Bitcoin community, moved from Minnesota in 2021.
  • Digital currency venture Circle was founded by Jeremy Allaire, who had graduated from Macalaster (St. Paul) and had a software startup here.
  • Best-selling author and bitcoin-trading luminary Peter L. Brandt has a seasonal home in the Twin Cities.
  • Founder of hedge fund Valshire, Dr. Jeff Ross,received his medical degree from UMN Medical School. He is frequently a guest on bitcoin podcasts.
  • The Bitcoiners Minneapolis group has a number of members who have joined various bitcoin-related organizations. For example, at least six (as of this writing) have since moved to Austin, TX where they are employed by Unchained Capital.
  • Blockchain privacy advocate Justin Ehrenhofer had organized the Minnesota Cryptocurrency non-profit while he was at UMN. He is now involved in several Monero-related organizations.
  • The Founder and CEO of Nano cryptocurrency, Colin LeMahieu started his career in software in Minnesota where he earned a Computer Science degree at St. Cloud State.
  • Prof. Bitange Ndemo who obtained an MBA from University of St. Thomas (after graduating from the Carlson School of Management) is chair of the Blockchain Taskforce for the Government of Kenya.
  • Brock Pierce, founder of Blockchain Capital and numerous other crypto ventures, was born in Minnesota and had starred in the Disney movie Mighty Ducks, which was filmed here.
